Description
The new poetry collection by Michal Téry is inspired by Eastern Christian liturgy and spirituality, which materializes in the form of a temple iconostasis with firmly established motifs of Orthodox spiritual art. The backbone of the collection consists of twelve extensive poems based on the 'third strip' of each iconostasis, that is, the strip of twelve major Christian feasts in the church year from the August Transfiguration of the Lord to the late spring celebration of the Holy Trinity. Interspersed among them are poetic miniatures that represent the other mandatory components of the Orthodox iconostasis. Thus, the reader holds a work that embodies a personal testimony within the canonical structure of Eastern Christian liturgy and transforms the firmly established artistic compositions of icons into current poetic expression. From the image, the word is born, from the icon, spiritual poetry.
