Description
An open body signifies a person's surrender to space and time. We find ourselves in the bodily interiors, observing bones, muscles, and organs; the body is often transparent, dissolving, or even non-existent. While the language is turned inside out, poems are commonly fastened into forms. A collection without sections, flowing in one breath, is interspersed with poems from cycles such as Children's Scenes and Terrible Sonnets. In contrast to the micro-horrors of the Terrible Sonnets, the Children's Scenes attempt a return to the world of childhood through playful language. Yet even that is inundated by the omnipresent cruelty and anxiety; a kind dialogue – in the relationship between two people or between a person and an animal (the poems Hymn, Haiku not haiku) – has become a rarity.
