Description
"The House of God" of the church (cf. 1 Tim 3:15) is a building whose construction is still ongoing, as the church is Ecclesia semper reformanda. The renewal of thinking about the church, following the II Vatican Council (1962–1965), found in the work of German theologian Johann Baptist Metz one of the very fruitful authors who seeks to outline the mission of Christianity in our postmodern age through his project of "new political theology." How can we evaluate Metz's effort nearly 50 years after its inception? And to what extent have Metz's reflections opened the way for further contemplation of the future of Christianity and the legitimization of the church community in our postmodern, multicultural, and polycentric society? This book attempts to provide answers to these questions, building a picture of the dynamic construction of the House of God, the church.
