Description
The first poetry book by the poet, educator, and outstanding publishing editor Marek Stašek was created in the first half of the 1980s – and yet it has still not been properly published to this day. In 1991, Jiří Suchý published it as a now completely unavailable bibliophilia in several copies at his Klokočí publishing house on loose sheets, which, however, cannot be considered a publication in the best of circumstances. In his debut, Marek Stašek presents himself as a very meticulous, subtle poet with a sensitivity to everyday reality, expressively precise, civil, and yet not concealing his inclination towards epic storytelling, capturing hidden dramatic events. The collection is unassuming at first glance, written with restraint, yet it stands out all the more after years in the context of the era in which it was created. The mere fact that it could not be published in print at the time of its creation indicates that behind Stašek's factual observations lies a much broader picture of the time than might appear at first glance. In this book, Marek Stašek found his expressive position, his language, and poetic uniqueness, which he further developed in his work.
