Skály a lidé 1 - Skály – Hnyk Petr (2020)

The publication by Petr Hnyk deviates from the publishing standard of promotional and guidebook brochures or other purely commercial publications. In it, the author presents a pivotal part of his many years of research work. For this region, it is historically the first and exceptionally comprehensive work in which the author describes both the history of the region itself and the life stories of people who in some way connected their lives with the rocks. The first volume of the two-part publication Rocks and People, titled Rocks, focuses on the history of the rock towns of the Adršpach-Teplice Rocks. In several chapters, the reader is guided along the rock paths, where they are introduced not only to the history of the gradual discovery and accessibility of the rock labyrinth but also to archaeological finds and other interesting facts that the average visitor has no chance of discovering or registering during a tour of the rock towns. In preparing the book, the author drew from all available archival and museum resources, which he supplemented with personal memories and testimonies from today's residents or descendants of those who spent a certain part of their lives in the rocky world.
