Život a svět - Fenomenologie Jana Patočky – Novotný Karel (2023)

The interpretation of selected parts of Jan Patočka's work concerning the fundamental question of the relationship between life and the world, as posed from the perspective of phenomenological philosophy, is confronted in this book with some post-classical concepts, both from the pens of Patočka's contemporaries and his modern interpreters. Throughout all parts of the book, texts preserved in his estate come to the fore, whose commentary accompanies and sheds new light on the interpretation of the works that Patočka himself published. The author devotes significant attention to that part of the so-called wartime manuscripts that relate to the philosophy of the inner self and its expression, and continues through reflections on space and concepts from lectures on corporeality from the 1960s, to reflections on the need for asubjective phenomenology and the idea of a pre-historical world. The book brings attention to these sources, which have been less commented on in literature, and presents a concentrated effort for a new perspective on the development of one part of Patočka's rich work, which is presented as an original version of the phenomenology of the natural world.
