The book "Horizont komparace" is another result of Czech-Polish academic collaboration between Małgorzata Kowalczyk (*1946), a Polish literature scholar and educator, and Petr Poslední (*1945), a literary historian, theorist, and one of the most prominent figures in Czech literary studies of Polish literature. The present publication, with its telling subtitle "Czech-Polish Literary Neighborhood 1945–2005," offers a methodologically and materially original, multi-layered probe into various forms of mutual developmental ties between the two national literatures. The "national aspect" as a key comparative approach is critically examined and, in fact, questioned from the very beginning. Against the backdrop of "comparing" works of diverse socio-cultural provenance, there is room for exploring various positions of literary culture, or literaryness. The authors purposefully work with narratological, thematological, translatological, and other perspectives; one of the pillars of their thinking about such a complex issue is a constant regard for the relationship between "tradition and individual talent," to quote T.
