Description
Hilde Domin (1909–2006) is one of the great German-speaking poets of Jewish descent who, after the horrific experience of the Holocaust, managed to restore the validity of poetic language in German. In her extraordinary, welcoming, and mysterious poetry, the many years of exile experience are reflected, as well as the experience of return in the form of a 'messenger of reconciliation'. The poet does not complain in her poetry, even though she would have many reasons to do so. She does not appeal, although she indirectly calls for a responsible attitude through simple means: courage, hope, and language. Concepts to which she restores meaning - for in her poetry, they are not empty words. The book 'Jen růže jako opora' is the first collection of works by the world-renowned German poet in the Czech language.
