The new book by Bishop Ladislav Hučka aims to introduce readers to the wealth of thought of significant Russian authors from the 19th and early 20th centuries: Vladimir Solovyov, Pavel Alexandrovich Florensky, Sergei Nikolayevich Bulgakov, and Nikolai Alexandrovich Berdyaev. These authors respond in their works to the profound renewal of faith among Russian Christians of that time and strive to provide appropriate answers to this phenomenon. It is also an era of cultural and economic exchanges between the East and the West. From the rich array of ideas of these personalities, the author has selected a portion concerning the cosmological aspect and its influence on individual faith. The cosmological analysis indicates that the West is predominantly anthropocentric, expressing its relationship to the Holy Trinity through Christ and universally applicable laws, as well as specific human rights, whereas the East is more cosmocentric, meaning the individual is understood more in service to the whole, building or seeking their personal relationship with Christ based on the unity of the Holy Trinity. The author considers these relationships to be complementary, and thus an area that should be developed and deepened as much as possible for the good of the unity of the church.
