Description
What secrets does a simple and kind Czech face hide? What do we really know about our origins as ordinary people living in a country that has seen so many governments and armies that we can hardly name them all? David is an ordinary man without ambitions or ideals. He lives in Czechoslovakia in the 1970s, in a world that is amusing, simple, and motionless like a queue for bananas. Until now, he has lived a quiet life, content with himself and his surroundings. However, this changes when he begins to search for his biological parents, leaving behind a world of peace and comfort and embarking on a winding path of discovery. He moves ever forward, not allowing the reader to catch their breath. With ease and wit, he overcomes the obstacles posed by his time. On his journey, he encounters ghost towns, state institutions reminiscent of a Kafkaesque joke, an underground factory where the Nazis produced tank parts during the war, as well as several unexpected twists that unsettle his peaceful existence.
