Description
This publication, unique in the Czech context, addresses one of the key questions of liturgical reform initiated by the Second Vatican Council (1962–1965). It focuses on the central part of the mass rituals, which was already referred to in antiquity as 'anaphora.' The author aims not only to provide as detailed a description as possible of the process of creating new anaphoras, referred to in the Roman Catholic Church as Eucharistic prayers, but also to analyze this process. Given the number of these prayer texts (currently 13 used worldwide and more than 10 locally; in the past, several hundred to several thousand within liturgical experiments), the analysis had to concentrate only on selected theological questions: main content emphases, the relationship between content and structure, Trinitarian and pneumatological perspectives, acclamations, and the language of theological formulations. Reading the book can be interesting and enriching also because the 70 pages of appendices allow for familiarization with translations of some analyzed anaphoras from around the world.
