Description

The poet Roman Kníže values the gift of sharpened vision and perception the most. This image is carried by the flow of time, thus the movement of reality and thought, and takes on a coded form of reflection. In the dynamics of nature and life, he perceives contradictions that disrupt his initial romantic longing and his wounded and unattainable ideal of harmony, which he pursues, even though and because it does not exist. He does not succumb to illusions. He evokes problems and provokes with them, avoiding didactic moralizing, commentary, and punchlines. Above all, there is a latent, omnipresent pain that permeates the perception of the world and life and brings knowledge of the healing power of poetry, which reaches beyond the stark reality of life, and thus the author clearly delineates his poetics and the meaning of his poetry, which aims to be a confession, a balm, a prayer, and a mass. (Bohumil Jirásek)
