Description
"What can be shown in an image should not be said in words." The main motto of Otto Neurath encapsulates his belief that visual perception represents the most natural part of non-linguistic communication, perhaps communication in general. Therefore, we find it necessary to introduce this personality to Czech readers, and above all, to familiarize them with the forgotten beginnings of modern information graphics. The three main goals of this book are: to map the intellectual roots of the Isotype method, to reconstruct, describe, and explain the Isotype method as its author Otto Neurath intended, and to process the reception of the method after Otto Neurath's death. His life story, along with a brief outline of the professional context, describes both acknowledged and other probable influences, all set within a chronological, geographical, and theoretical framework so that both experts and laypeople can find a beneficial part for themselves.
