Description
The Church Fathers continue to inspire today's theologians, church shepherds, and others who strive to understand how to convey Christ's story to modern man. The presented book poses the question of why Saint Ambrose wrote his monumental Commentary on Psalm 118. By studying the religious and cultural context and the text itself, it concludes that it is a mystagogical text intended to lead already baptized Christians further in life through spiritual exegesis of Scripture, so they can glimpse and recognize Christ in various realities of their own lives. These ways of Christ's presence in the contemporary world are then thematized. In the Czech context, this is the most comprehensive introduction to Ambrose's theology and biblical exegesis to date.
