Description
The book Conversation and Reasoning addresses questions and problems of communication. It is based on the belief that communication cannot be understood exclusively as linguistic communication and that communicative processes cannot be reduced to linguistic processes. Prof. PhDr. Ing. Ladislav Tondl, DrSc. (February 28, 1924) studied philosophy, sociology, economics, and mathematical statistics at the Faculty of Arts of Charles University in Prague, where he later lectured on logic, epistemology, and the philosophy of science. In 1990, he founded the Center/Cabinet for the Study of Science, Technology, and Society, where he still works today. He actively participates in the activities of the Semiotic Group of the Czech Society for Cybernetics and Informatics. His wide range of professional interests primarily includes questions and problems of the philosophy of language, semiotics, and communication theory, which he has addressed in publications such as Problems of Semantics (1966, expanded version published in 1974 in Russian, in 1981 in English, and again in Czech in 2006), Between Epistemology and Semiotics (1996), or Dialogue.
