Description
Dr. Krejzyber's second poetry collection (the poetic pseudonym of Jiří Studený) is imbued with reflective, at times diary-like entries that express, in a figurative manner, the everyday struggles of today's individual for their own authenticity and intellectual and emotional independence. The poems intertwine banal everyday life with nearly dreamlike visions, often presented in a significantly ironic or parodic context. The collection is complemented by a bonus standalone poem, Vanishing Plot, inspired by the existential poetics of independent cinema from the sixties (the cult film Vanishing Point). An important dimension of Dr. Krejzyber's verses also involves the search for spiritual exits from the current value crisis of the globalized world, which can be resisted through conscious detachment from life, lightness, and humor. Dr. Krejzyber (*2008) made his solo debut with the collection Think Like a Car (2011) and, together with his long-time collaborator Jiří Studený, writes occasional essays on creative writing (The Dramas of Language, 2010).
