Description
Lebanon is a barometer of political events in the Middle East, and Lebanese Christians are the intellectual elite of Middle Eastern Christians. However, the years following the end of the civil war (1990) are described as years of disillusionment and depression regarding the political development of the country. In fourteen interviews, Christians from the Maronite, Greek Orthodox, Greek Catholic, Armenian, and Protestant churches seek to answer the pivotal question: how to cope with the declining influence of Christians in Lebanese, as well as Middle Eastern society? In addition to reflections on the confessional political system, society, culture, Muslim-Christian and inter-church relations, they also discuss the need to invest in the renewal of spiritual values: hope, service, and love for one's neighbor, whether Muslim or Christian, without distinction.
