Description
Forty million people in the over-technologized megacity of Baltimore are slowly losing touch with the natural world and its standard habitat, which is being replaced by technologies. It was clear that such rapid development could not last forever and that one day a critical threshold would be reached that would change everything abruptly. However, the time estimates for this event mostly ranged between one hundred to five hundred years, which provided some assurance that fortunately, the current inhabitants would not live to see it. No one even dreamed that everything could be radically accelerated by one of many earthly space expeditions, in this case to the planet Rapponea, which had returned to Earth about seventeen years ago. But something was left there back then. And it has now unexpectedly returned.
