Description
The starship Rhea encountered a cluster of carbon planets during its exploration, which seem to be a source of quantum energy flowing throughout the sector. The landing party discovers an unusual form of life on the surface of one of these planets, and Ensign T’Ryssa Chen - a half-Vulcan - manages to establish a fragile contact. The Borg appear in orbit, and the landing party can only listen in horror as Rhea is gradually assimilated. T’Ryssa is already coming to terms with the fact that she will soon meet the fate of her colleagues when she is suddenly flung fifteen hundred light-years away.
