Description
This children’s book, in Czech, is mostly cheerful, though it does not conceal a certain sadness. The everyday life of its most ordinary heroes becomes tangled with fantasy, exotic adventures and all kinds of wild games. The main character is four-year-old Olívie Čudlová, who allows her neighbour, her grandfather Moučka, hardly any peace to catch up on his sleep or eat breakfast. Together they play and compete to come up with ideas for frightening each other and leading one another into ever more suggestive places. Exuberance alternates with terror, and a thoroughly ordinary, unbearably dull life with the lives of strange creatures who joke with the protagonists and push them into foolish, perilous situations. Ordinary things become extraordinary, and gold turns to dust. The book is intended for parents to read aloud with children aged four and up.
