Description
This is a report about a country plagued by the terror of dictator Enver Hoxha, who, after a rift with Yugoslavia, the Soviet Union, and China, believed that Albania could become a self-sufficient communist fortress. The author tells the stories of people who were sent into exile overnight simply because they were born into the wrong family or tried to think independently at home in whispers. It also covers the bloody uprisings in labor camps and the tragic escapes from a country that became a bunker. About lives sacrificed on the altar of an ideological paradise and about the people who tortured and tormented others without regard for the consequences. The stories of the heroes in this book reveal the darkest period of Albanian history and speak of the decline of humanity in the 20th century.
