When I was deciding what I would be, I often had disputes about my future with my dad, or as we would have said back then in Brno, with my tata. But then I mentally apologized to him because I realized he meant well for me. And then I wrote the stories 'Dad and His Son.' I never argued with my mom; she always stood by me. My wife Petra always told me why I didn't write something about my mom. But I thought I had nothing to write about since she passed away early; I hadn't even graduated yet. But as time went by, I missed my mom just as much, and memories kept surfacing that I couldn't shake off. So I eventually decided that I had to write about her too, and while writing, I discovered there was more than I thought, even though I made up a lot. And so the book is now out in the world, and my beloved mom comes alive in it, she lives on. And I will never forget her! Arnošt Goldflam, 2020
