Description
The factually oriented novel The Denim Generation tells the story of a tragic event in recent Georgian history. On November 18, 1983, a group of young people attempted to hijack an Aeroflot plane flying from Tbilisi to Leningrad. Their goal was to force a landing in Turkey and escape the hopeless life in the Soviet Union. The hijacking failed, resulting in several innocent victims, and its organizers did not escape exemplary punishments. The opinion on their act still divides Georgian society, similar to the case of the Mašín brothers in our country. However, the story of the hijackers in jeans as presented by Dato Turashvili enjoys immense reader interest not only in Georgia but also in several Western countries.
