Description
This book is the second volume of a collection representing the authorship, dramaturgical, theoretical, and pedagogical work of Jan Vedral. It follows the volume DramaTIK. It is a selection of dramaturgical essays, studies, and articles that the author has accompanied his dramaturgical, authorship, and pedagogical practice since the 1980s. The author is convinced that alongside practical dramaturgy, the profession of a dramaturg also includes theoretical activity, particularly related to the possibilities and development of drama, stage, and the social contexts of theatrical creation. This theoretical dramaturgy is not strictly a scientific activity, as it is always related to and measured against specific stage practice and is usually also prompted by its needs and demands. Jan Vedral analyzes the extent to which Czech theater and its dramaturgy are connected to social development by examining the transformations of Czech theater and society over the past forty years.
