Description
From the back cover: After zigzagging through Paris in a taxi, but wanting to try the metro as well, he had himself taken to the Art Nouveau station Abbesses, and upon descending into the depths, he uttered to a randomly chosen passenger a carefully prepared sentence in Brno Parisian (well, let’s translate it here): "Don’t be angry, I just wanted to tell you that Paris is such a damn beautiful city for me that if I could spend the rest of my life even just as a rat (le surmulot) and maybe even here underground, I would feel blessed." From the story Brno–Paris: "Because of his weakness for stories, God did not create man and woman. The Almighty created Jiří Kratochvil for that reason." Thus spoke Aleš Palán in a darkly sarcastic review of the novel The Sarcastic Darkness of Living.
