Description
Michal Viewegh is one of the most popular Czech prose writers since 1989. A master of dialogue and vivid psychological characterization, he skillfully balances popular and literary fiction. His strongly plot-driven stories are rooted in the social, political and cultural developments and changes of the past half-century. The author often draws his themes directly from his own life, sometimes ironically and sarcastically, but more often with humor. Thomas Brussig writes: “There are probably infinitely many conceivable constellations between men and women, and Viewegh seems familiar with all of them. In Michal Viewegh, I can read about what I have really experienced and what actually happened. He often makes a convincing proposal for how I should regard what I have experienced.”
