Description
This study examines theriomorphic, phytomorphic and oryctomorphic elements and motifs in visions of transempirical entities: forms and themes drawn from the shapes of individual beings in the animal, plant and mineral realms, including certain mythical elements and motifs. Why does the Faustian spirit Ariel appear as a dog, his fellow spirit Aciel as a bull, or the Goetic spirit Camio take the form of a song thrush? Why does the Olympian planetary spirit Och ride a lion, the Jupiterian demon Mefistofiel hold a thistle, and the headband of the Neptunian spiritual intelligence Mepsitahl bear a ruby? This book explores why spirits look the way they do, drawing on astrological and atavistic correspondences, symbolic and mythological connections, and the particular powers of individual entities. Through numerous examples of Faustian, Goetic and other spirits, it discusses and clarifies a neglected subject. The book is in Czech.
