Description
Between 1675 and 1690, Austria was swept by a wave of witch trials, one of the largest in Europe. These trials, which took place in several cities of the Salzburg archdiocese, entered history under the name of the Jackl trials. The courts, which handed down more than 120 death sentences, artificially inflated and demonized the entire case. All those who have dealt with the Jackl trials so far have emphasized their historical and sociological aspects, making it difficult to extract the magical core from this jumble of data. Nevertheless, I have attempted to do so. I believe that some magical core did exist here. Therefore, in this study, I focused on analyzing the occult aspects of the "Jackl phenomenon." The topic of witch trials is generally a very sensitive issue. I do not wish to disrespect the memory of the many innocent victims of the justice system at that time. What I want to touch upon are the occult connections that the judges of old could not grasp due to their prejudices, and which, for entirely different kinds of prejudices, have also eluded modern researchers.
