Description
This Czech-language book recalls the dramatic events that took place in the Beskids at the end of 1944. Much time has passed since then, and several generations have been born, grown up and grown old. For them, the six years during which German soldiers occupied the country, from 1939 to 1945, are now only a fragmentary and distant history. There are no longer any direct participants or witnesses, while the small monuments at places where people died fighting for their homeland are falling into disrepair. Just as the Czechoslovak Legions became a cornerstone in the creation of a free Czechoslovak Republic, the resistance and partisan movement during the occupation became a cornerstone of the new Czechoslovakia.
