The beauty of the Swedish mountains becomes the backdrop for a crime that sends chills down the spine. At the moment when Stockholm police officer Hanna Ahlander’s personal and professional life collapses, she finds refuge with her sister in the Swedish paradise of the ski resort Are. But it is only for a moment. The entire village is shaken by the sudden disappearance of a local teenage girl. Hanna gets involved in the investigation and, while searching for the missing girl, secures a job at the local police department. There, she teams up with Detective Inspector Daniel Lindskog, who has been assigned to find the girl. Their only clue is a scarf in the snow. The freezing temperatures drop even further, and a treacherous snowstorm is approaching Are. Hanna and Daniel's investigation becomes more desperate with each passing hour. Lost or abducted, either way, time is running out for the missing girl. Every new lead relates to something much more sinister than Hanna or Daniel could have imagined.
