The book of memories by Vasilij Krysov presents the reader with the battles on the Eastern Front during World War II through the eyes of a young man who was drafted into the armored tank units in 1942. Krysov represents all the brave men of the nations of the Soviet Union who, regardless of the power struggles of the Soviet politicians at the time, led by Joseph Stalin, who signed an alliance treaty with Hitler at the beginning of the war in 1939, risked their lives to defend their homeland after the Nazi army's invasion. He tells the unique story of a successful commander who experienced all the key tank battles on the Eastern Front over three years, and despite three injuries, unlike many of his friends, he managed to survive these heavy fights. Together with Krysov, the reader goes through all the important battles of the so-called Great Patriotic War, from the turning point at Stalingrad and the famous tank battle at Kursk, to the offensives in Ukraine that led to the liberation of Kyiv and the advance westward into the border area between Ukraine, Belarus, and Poland, culminating in his contribution to the victory in East Prussia, where he spent the last days of the war.
