Description
When Belle Hatton arrives in the English colony in Burma in the 1930s to perform as a singer for wealthy guests at a luxury hotel, her motivation is not just a desire for adventure and exoticism. Her parents had a daughter in Burma who disappeared from her stroller in the garden shortly after birth. And not only that - local authorities suspected Belle's mentally unstable mother of her disappearance, which led her husband to quickly take her back to their homeland. Shocked, Belle is determined to find out exactly what happened in Burma twenty-five years ago. However, when she begins to search for answers in Rangoon, she encounters nothing but rejection, silence, and even overt threats. Ultimately, her life is literally at stake.
