At that moment, groups of insurgents who had previously remained in the workshops began to rush in from various sides. They had axes, sticks, and knives. Meanwhile, everyone who had firearms from the killed Nazis began shooting into the air. Women and men screamed and ran like mad... Some waved axes, sticks, and other objects that served as weapons. All those who knew nothing about the uprising beforehand joined us, and there was such a commotion that no one could stay in place... The unruly, frenzied crowd rushed towards the exit of the camp... Sobibor was the most mysterious and least known of all Nazi extermination concentration camps. No one is able to fully reconstruct the drama of nearly 300,000 people murdered in these places within a few months. After the successful revolt and escape of prisoners from Sobibor on October 14, 1943, Odilo Globocnik, the SS and police commander of the Lublin district, wrote to Heinrich Himmler that evidence related to this place needed to be destroyed as quickly as possible, and therefore all documents were burned. Thus, there are no materials that would allow for a sufficient explanation...
