Description

The second volume brings more stories from the post-war Šumava region and records the fates of local people. It tells of the final year of the war, when a man posing as a swindler held positions as an economic inspector, criminal investigator and Gestapo officer, only to appear in the uniform of a SNB officer during the first post-war months. Another case concerns the staff of a magazine who employed members of the local underworld to collect financial donations for the survivors of Czechoslovak partisans, using advertisements for this purpose. The book also describes the intriguing case of two women from the Domažlice region who practised clandestine prostitution. Another story recounts the tragedy of a village dance, where one of three friends ended up in a pool of blood on the dance-hall floor. The contents are in Czech.
