At the luxurious residence of Atlantis on a private peninsula of Lake Geneva, six young women from different corners of the world gather, brought together by a sad event: the death of their adoptive father. Each sister receives a letter as part of her inheritance, containing details that could lead her to her biological family. Thus, the eldest sister, the charming translator Maia, finds herself in Brazil, guided by the coordinates from her father's letter. In Rio de Janeiro, with the help of a local writer named Florian, she follows the trail of the once-powerful Aires Cabral family and discovers that uncovering the mystery of her origins requires her to go back several generations. To her great-great-grandmother Izabela, who, as an engaged eighteen-year-old girl, travels to Paris with the family of the project's chief architect during the construction of the famous Christ statue, where she falls passionately in love with a young sculptor named Laurent. Their secret love continues even in Rio, and although Izabela marries her noble fiancé due to her parents, it does not come without consequences... During her search for the troubled fates of the women in her family, Maia becomes increasingly enchanted by her native Rio, as well as by her charming guide. The journey into the past helps her reconcile with an unhappy decision made in her youth that has haunted her for years...
