Description
The picturesque Beskydy Mountains, full of fragrant forests, blooming meadows, and quiet homesteads, bear witness to the harsh and humorous tales of gamekeepers and poachers. They are accompanied by the legendary figure of gamekeeper Karel Macurek, known as the 'poacher gamekeeper' or 'father of poachers.' He earned this peculiar nickname not only for his sensitivity to nature and living creatures but also to people. It is not uncommon that the rifle, without which he cannot take a step, cannot be used because he has not a single bullet in the pocket of his worn-out hunting jacket. Nevertheless, he does not hesitate to intervene when there is injustice against the forest, wildlife, or even people. This notorious gamekeeper, who at one time had to wear a nearly new hunting jacket because a robin had nested in the pocket of his well-worn one, ultimately finds his peace in the heavenly hunting grounds. The picturesque Beskydy remain, but thanks to modern technology, time has transformed the romance of ancient poachers into ruthless hunters who give wildlife virtually no chance.
