Description
The historical twists and turns of the second half of the 20th century have left perhaps surprisingly diverse marks on the face of the Moravian metropolis. Traces of socialism can be found in the housing estates of Brno's suburbs, the Continental Hotel is a shining example of Brussels style, and the brutalist building of Ingstav in Štýřice has been labeled one of the most successful Czech architectural realizations. The renowned campus of Masaryk University in Bohunice, the town hall in Žabovřesky, and the Moravian Library illustrate echoes of high-tech, postmodernism, and deconstructivism. The second part of the successful guide to Brno's architecture will present both famous and lesser-known buildings. The entries are again accompanied by photographs capturing the current state of the buildings, and the publication includes clear maps with marked objects and profiles of the architects.
