Description
Brno represents one of the economic centers of the Czech lands. Already in the second half of the 18th century, new modern industrial sectors developed in the city, and the first factory buildings appeared. They rose within sight of the walled Brno and created a distinctive urban-architectural ensemble, contrasting with the baroque fortress and the surrounding suburban development. Most of the dozens of buildings have irretrievably disappeared or no longer serve their original purpose. Those that have withstood the test of time remind us of the slowly fading glory of industrial Brno.
