The aim of the publication is a comprehensive summary of knowledge related to the current role of ICT in businesses, with innovations in ICT in enterprises and their categorization. Within the innovation cycle, it focuses on the influences that initiate ICT-based innovations. This topic is framed by the concept of enterprise architecture and its impact on innovations. At the end of the publication, the fundamental methodological principles important for increasing competitiveness, stemming from ICT innovations, are presented, in which people play a crucial role, as well as the purposefulness of their education.
