Description
Since 2004, there have been significant changes in both the Czech Republic (CR) and the European Union that necessitate a new perspective on insurance in many respects, while also creating systemic and methodological prerequisites for its new development. We are primarily referring to an increasingly evident inclination towards understanding insurance as an integral part of the financial services framework. This seemingly obvious fact, however, introduces new attributes and demands into the concept of insurance that have not yet been articulated or addressed in a more comprehensive economic practice. The entire process of harmonization, carried out in the EU over the past approximately thirty years and accelerating in the last two decades, has aimed at ensuring the free movement of services through the free establishment of branches and the freedom to provide services in the European Economic Area, primarily for each segment of financial services separately. Therefore, we can speak of a unified insurance market, rather than a unified market for financial services at this point.
