From 1997 to 2000, she lived in Angola, where she trained dogs and handlers to search for mines. Scent work and games are her specialty, and she is in demand as a course leader in many countries. Turid Rugaas has been working with dogs for over 40 years. In the late 1980s, she studied and systematically described calming signals in dogs with her colleague Stale Odegard.
