Description
The second volume of the three-part series is an overview of breweries in the area of New Town in Prague that remained operational at least until the last quarter of the 19th century. The chapters dedicated to individual establishments mention the owners, brewers, various anecdotes, legends, and the culturally popular performances, entertainments, and festivities that had a firm foundation in many brewery inns at the time. Additionally, there is technical information provided – key renovations, employee work, or the product range of the respective brewery. Some sections also include profiles of notable brewers or employee memories in the form of quotes from period documents. Some breweries are also associated with unpublished private notes from involved witnesses.
