Description
The publication brings to light the unknown fates of two out of a total of fourteen officers of the military chaplaincy who served in Czechoslovak foreign units during World War II. It is based on authentic diaries kept by František Petružela (nicknamed Padre) and Hanuš Rezek (Rebe) directly at the front. Both stories testify to simple, consistent, and faithful service to those closest not only in a spiritual sense but primarily on a human level. The text shows the everyday raw face of war, introduces readers to the issues of organization and operation of the military chaplaincy in our foreign army, and besides the two main protagonists, presents a number of other personalities of the resistance. The publication, prepared based on previously unused sources, will include several dozen unique photographs, which will add a new significant dimension to the image of our foreign resistance, along with appendices, a notes apparatus, and an index.
