In Kenya, a partially crippled elephant living in a herd of wild elephants was often waited for by her companions during their travels until she shuffled over, and they often fed her. Konrad Lorenz described an incident with a dog that could tell by neutral language whether it would go out with its owner or be forced to stay home.
