A colorful and captivating love story that humorously combines the acting and aristocratic milieu somewhere in England. Lady Joan Wild seems to attract scandals. When she joins a traveling theater company and decides to play the role of a prince, she risks ruining her reputation. She carries in her mind the perfect model of an aristocrat: Thaddeus Erskine Shaw, Viscount Greywick, who is not at all pleased with the idea of marrying her. Thaddeus is the only one who avoids Joan Wild because she unsettles him. However, when he realizes the danger Lady Joan wants to expose herself to, he promises to protect her and makes a deal with her: once she performs one show, Lady Joan will return to her father's castle and marry one of the three gentlemen that Thaddeus will deem acceptable. He himself is, of course, not among them, and it is far from certain what anyone should think about that.
