Someone, however, is determined to silence their author forever. As Jana worries about this mysterious enemy, she also learns that a new owner is on his way to the village and castle and may terminate her lease, forcing her to leave the place she considers home. After years of spying for the British government, Thomas Sutherland is summoned back to Britain. Under the peculiarities of Scottish inheritance law, he unexpectedly becomes the Earl of Magnus and must travel to his remote Scottish estate.
