Zločin a písmo – Veličková Helena (2023)

The book processes dozens of actual crimes from a graphological perspective, which were brought before the Regional Court in Olomouc between 1918 and 1938. From original archival materials, primarily the handwriting of criminals, an experienced graphologist gained interesting insights into the psychology of murderers, violent offenders, robbers, deviants, and fraudsters, as well as court officials, prison guards, and doctors during the First Republic. The author selected from hundreds of court files and went through an enormous amount of written material. Typewriters were not part of the standard equipment of institutions in the First Republic, let alone ordinary people; almost everything was handwritten. Graphological analyses reveal the most hidden details of the mental motives that led to the commission of crimes. The handwriting analysis confirms, specifies, complements, or alters the conclusions reached by judicial investigators. The book is a unique penetration into the depths of human nature in Czech graphological literature. It confirms that humans are complex beings, often unpredictable and irrational. The field of psychology still has much to discover, and handwriting psychology is perhaps the most effective way to delve into the depths of the soul.
