We encounter banking, financial, and insurance products practically throughout our lives. Therefore, banking is one of the economic fields that is, to some extent, closer to our everyday lived reality. The aim of this textbook is to introduce students, teachers, and the general public to the basic principles of banking, monetary policy, money and interest rates, the functioning of the banking system, both central and commercial banking. Attention is also paid to banking products, payment transactions, banking regulation and supervision, types and management of banking risks, the financial system, the stock exchange, and the field of insurance. Finally, the publication also addresses international monetary and financial institutions and their role in global banking.
