Description
In a figurative sense, 'alma mater' (nourishing mother) is used for a university or other higher education institution. The author chose the university environment for her novel. She allows life to be viewed from multiple perspectives through several characters. Alma is a university teacher, and as is often the case with single thirty-somethings, she navigates life in all its complexity. Her gift of seeing life differently from others does not make her situation any easier. Levi is also furthering his education at the same university. The young and irresponsible entrepreneur soon becomes Alma's best friend. However, he is unsure of what he wants from life, creating confusion in Alma's mind and heart. Lastly, there is Alma's colleague Vanda. She is infatuated with Levi from the very first moment and wants him all to herself. In a series of meetings, each understands the other a little differently. And each wants only the best for themselves. We cannot be surprised when everything turns out completely differently.
