The introductory section is dedicated to the political, economic, and military cooperation of states around the world, while the political and cultural development in Europe and non-European areas is depicted in timelines. The map section consists of 10 sections. Each includes a brief characterization of the given period, working questions, colored historical maps, colored illustrations of architecture, science, art, and photographs of significant personalities. The atlas concludes with a selective index of names.
